Lloyd Shaw: The Father of Modern Square Dance

SEASDC Lloyd Shaw Annual Award

Dr. Lloyd Shaw will forever be considered the father of modern square dance. For more than 30 years, he led this movement from Cheyenne Mountain School in Colorado Springs and spread it around the world through his teaching, books and his dancers.

The Lloyd Shaw Memorial Award is intended to recognize people in the Southeast Area Council who have made significant contributions to the betterment of the dance activity we all cherish.
